Rates

Many years ago the Government decided note to gather taxes via the rates method, but to disperse takings from the income tax base. Now, under orders from the Troicha, they are going to introduce rates. Surely this is not the time. I have no problem with the rates system, but, the equivalent value of the rates must be taken off income tax first. I am not sure how many people who own their house are unemployed, but I am sure these people will not be paying any rates. In one county (Kilkenny) it as about 10%. After all they cannot afford to pay their mortgage, never mind rates. Ireland I fear has only one future, and that will be to drag itself back to the 1950's as fast as possible.

What have they done?

The Irish government have been in power for a few years now, having taken over at the beginning of the collapse of the Irish economy. What would you expect them to have done as their first concern to ensure that the citizens of the country would  not suffer in this way again? Lets try, legally protect the people from the failure of banks. And, ensure that the government can not borrow money without strict debt control. These would be two obvious and paramount issues to be tackled. Now, what have they done? Literally nothing. Banks still operate as they please and I have not seen or heard of one law to ensure banks cannot sink the country due to greed. What controls have they put on themselves? Nothing. Governments are surely proving to be the biggest waste of human endeavour. I believe there actually has to be a whole new way government to maximize the use and management of public money and law.

PS: The Health department just threw away 26 million Euros on who knows what on the placement of the new children's Hospital. The planned site was rejected, but somehow they had already spent Euro 26m. If I was working in the private sector, I would surely have been fired for this massive error. But, the government just write it off an carries on. This is totally incompetent and seriously wrong. Reilly you must go for your incompetence. You have surpassed your Peter Principle.

THE BARREL

It dawned me the other day as to what European politicians are doing to their people. It's quite simple. Austerity means that that they are scrapping the bottom of the barrel to collect money to pay of their mismanagement of Europe. This is done in opposition to creaming the top of the barrel. If you believe in the 80/20 rule, which states that 80% of the wealth is held by 20% of the population, then you can see that governments have to scrape a huge chunk at the bottom to get the same amount as creaming a small portion at the top of the barrel.

Investing in Green - Bio fuel

I invested last year in a company called Carbon Credit Farming PLC, purchasing the rights to 2 hectares of land in Cambodia, where Jatropha plants would be grown. Much the same as Palm oil is. The company changed its name to Sustainable Agroenergy PLC. The selling agent was a man called Tom Elliot. I discovered last week that this company had been put under administration by the UK's Serious Fraud Office (SFO) and is under investigation. We may get back some of the money. Not much I would guess.

Coincidentaly I received an email from Insight Group PLC today, who I was in contact with a year ago. The brunt of this email, was that they have failed in their operations in Mozambique to grow the Moringa Oleifera plantations and want all their investors to move their rights to Gambia and start again. I had little faith that Mozambique was a good country to do business with at the time, which is why I picked Cambodia.

Green investments obviously come with a bunch of green investment companies and green management, who don't know what they are doing. Be careful out there!!!!!

The €100 Irish dilemma

Isn't it great. The Irish seemed to be a people with not much of an appetite for taking on the government. But now, the government has given them a vehicle and they have jumped on it. The government imposed a €100 tax on every household, but supplied no means for people to pay it, or register for it that was easily accessible. Problem one. The People decided that they were sick of paying (for banks) and have not registered in a big way, or paid either. The deadline is the 31st March. I hope they don't give in, it's time the government understand who actually owns the country. The People.

The goverment is actually employed by the people to work for the people. Party politics chooses to ignore this and imposes political ideals for the party first and the people second. Ban Party Politics!
